How accurate are drone volume calculations?

Drone volumetrics typically achieve 2-5% accuracy depending on site conditions and ground control. For most construction and quarry applications, this is well within acceptable tolerance and provides an independent verification of contractor quantities.

How often should we survey?

For active sites, we recommend monthly surveys. For high-turnover stockpiles or critical cut/fill operations, weekly surveys provide tighter progress tracking. We offer flexible monitoring packages from one-off surveys to scheduled weekly visits.

Can you measure cut and fill?

Yes. By comparing surveys against a design surface or previous survey, we can calculate cut and fill volumes across the site, helping you track earthworks progress and verify quantities.

Do you need ground control points?

For volume calculations, we use RTK positioning and can establish GCPs where required for maximum accuracy. For relative volume measurement (comparing one survey to another), the accuracy is even higher as systematic errors cancel out.

Can you survey while the site is active?

Yes. The drone captures data from the air without interfering with site operations. We coordinate with site managers to fly safely around plant and personnel.
