Are you CAA-licensed and insured?

Yes. We hold a GVC (General Visual Certificate) with PDRA01 operational authorisation and an A2 Certificate of Competency (A2CofC). We carry £5m Public Liability and £2m Professional Indemnity insurance. Every job has a RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statement) produced before we fly.

What happens if the weather is bad on the survey day?

Drones can't fly in heavy rain, strong winds or very low cloud. We monitor forecasts closely and will reschedule at no additional cost if conditions aren't safe. We'll always communicate early so you can plan around any delay.

What data formats do you deliver?

We deliver in the formats your workflow needs - DWG, DXF, LAS/LAZ, XYZ, OBJ, RCP for 3D models, CSV for volume data, and PDF reports. We'll confirm your required formats during the site brief.

How long does a drone survey take?

Accepted Answer

Capture time ranges from under an hour for a single building roof to a full day for large sites. Processing and delivery is typically 3-5 working days. Rush turnaround is available on request.

How do you ensure site safety?

Accepted Answer

We produce a RAMS for every job, hold CSCS cards, and are a PQS/SSIP accredited contractor. We coordinate with site managers, establish exclusion zones, and follow CAA operating procedures for every flight.

What do we need to prepare before you arrive?

We need clear site access, details of any active hazards (plant, personnel, livestock), and confirmation of the survey boundary. For some sites we'll need to establish ground control points in advance - we'll discuss this during the brief.

LiDAR surveys achieve cm accuracy on hard surfaces. Photogrammetric roof surveys achieve cm-level accuracy on roof surfaces. Volumetric surveys typically achieve 2-5% accuracy. We'll confirm the accuracy specification for your specific requirements.

What drives the cost of a drone survey?

The main cost drivers are site size and complexity, access and terrain, the level of deliverable detail required (raw images vs orthomosaic vs full CAD/point cloud), the equipment needed, and turnaround time. Every site is different - that's why we scope each job individually.

What areas do you cover?

We're based in Preston and cover all of Lancashire - including Blackpool, Chorley and Lancaster as core towns - plus wider reach into Cumbria and Greater Manchester. For larger or remote sites, we travel further by arrangement.

Can your data integrate with our CAD or BIM workflow?

Yes. We deliver in standard CAD and BIM-compatible formats (DWG, DXF, RCP, LAS) that drop into AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D and other design tools. We'll confirm your specific software requirements during the brief.
